Makar Samkranti is the day when Sun transits to capricorn. Capricorn is in Sanskrit Makar and Samkranti means transition. This day is very auspicious day of the year as Sun inclines towards 6 month long uttarayan and the auspicious period of Yagyas and Sankars begins. Sun is the most powerful planet (star) of the solar family and has great influence on our body and mind. It feeds us by its energies and light but at the same time its ultraviolet rays can cause us skin and eye problems. Therefore it is believed to be most dominant planet. Also in Vedic scriptures, Sun is greatly worshipped as Surya Devta. This day is therefore auspicious for all planet related Yagyas for all purposes. This day is additionally also auspicious for the yagyas for spiritual success and prosperity. It is believed and experienced that Yagyas done or at least started during these days, get extra strength and faster results. As usual, in this Navratri too Ved Bhawan high amount of Yagyas for all purposes.
